SAMPL is an SSR-based modification of AFLP, developed by Vogel and Margante (1995, 1997) to incorporate a greater level of co-dominance into the AFLP technology and to take advantage of the SSR sites in the genome . In SAMPL, the amplification of restricted genomic DNA is carried out using a radiolabelled SSR primer and an unlabeled AFLP primer. The primer corresponding to the compound repeats are generally preferred for SAMPL.
