Project         How to Proceed         Query Shell          Password        Molecular Markers        Links        Feedback

When you click on the link "Query Shell" the computer will display the list of available types of query shells. These are species independent query shell, the species dependent query shell, static map query shell and the dynamic map query shell. The species dependent query shell and the species independent query shells are non-spatial, whereas the later two are spatial. You, the end user, are free to browse through the query shell as a guest. However, the spatial query shell will require a login.

Let us clarify here that in a species dependent query shell, we will be able to select the species name only, whereas in a species independent query shell, we will be able to select other parameters like economical, ecological importances, medicinal value, markers etc.

The screen will offer you four choices:
  • Bioprospecting
  • Molecular Taxonomy
  • Lichen Research
  • All
Out of these three choices, you will have to select any one and click on the Proceed button.

In case you click the species independent query shell, you will be presented with a sheet requesting various data field values, where information regarding various other aspects would be sought as an input to a query builder. Please note that you do not have to fill up all the values, in this query sheet. In case you are not sure of the value of any particular field leave that field blank.

If you click on the species dependent query shell, you will be presented with a screen where the list of the species would be present and you will have to select any one of them and then click on Proceed.

After you have zoomed in to a final stage and into a particular species, you can then see the information for that particular species-:
  • Taxon Information
  • Accession
  • Plant Characteristics
  • Genetic
  • Importance
  • Bioprospecting
  • References
  • PI Information
  • Photo
In case you do not have a username and a password, and you desire to have them, please write to the Department of Biotechnogy at the following address, justifying your requirements for the same.

After you have entered the username and the password, click on the Login button. If your login is successful you will see a welcome screen. Where you see the link to the spatial query shell. This query shell uses the internet GIS technology and thus generates faster results. You should remember that the login attempt will be allowed to a maximum of three times and after the login attempt will return the message "Login failed".

Any of these links can be clicked to obtain the relevant information about the selected species.
